Quelle voix, quel peuple ? Empathie et aventure conceptuelle dans La Mer à l’envers de Marie Darrieussecq

This chapter considers empathy as a linking agent, capable of redrawing the map of disciplines, including literature, under the aegis of the relationship it fosters. Empathy involves a dynamic process with an irreducible heterogeneous core (both pathos and logos) that can be approached in spatial terms (points of view, milieu) and semantic terms (conceptual adventure, care, fabulation). This double perspective invites us to two ultimately ethical frames of reference: that of the ethics of care, around a new moral philosophy with Laugier and Diamond in the continuity of Wittgenstein and Nussbaum; and that of ecosophy with the geophilosophy of Deleuze and Guattari. The chapter then turns to an artistic practice, that of Marie Darrieussecq in La Mer à l’envers (2019), which addresses the particularly sensitive topic of migration. The aim is to identify the empathetic strategies and conceptual adventures proposed to deal with “nonsense”.
