Synopsis

In contemporary Western society, there is no longer a structure that provides certainty in which persons can occupy and define their place. Only the human body remains, which is precisely indicated by the disappearance of fashion. Fashion has been replaced by the technique of individual’s self-presentation of his/her body, which Dahrendorf would describe no longer as ligature, only an option. The favorite expression of the giant of modern sociology, Bourdieu, was social anatomy, from which in the postmodern society the adjective “social” has disappeared, and “anatomy” remained only.
